Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday will leave for Chennai to pay tribute to the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

PM Modi will visit Rajaji Hall and pay his last respect to the mortal remains of Amma.

The funeral will be held at 1630 hours on Tuesday at Marina Beach.

Centre declares one day of national mourning while the Kerala government announced December 6 as public holiday for state offices and educational institutes as the state mourns the death of the 18th Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa.

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will also leave for Chennai to pay homage to Amma.

It may be mentioned that Amma was declared dead on Monday midnight after she was admitted in Apollo Hospital in Chennai for 75 long days.

She suffered a cardiac arrest on December 4.
