PM Modi and all ministers to take 30% pay cut, informs Prakash Javedkar

New Delhi: In view of the crisis in the corona virus epidemic, an important decision has been taken at the cabinet meeting on Monday. Under this, the MP fund has been postponed for two years.At the same time President, Vice President, Governor and all MPs have also decided to contribute 30 percent of their salary.

The Union Cabinet approved the ordinance amending the Salaries, Allowances and Pensions of Members of Parliament Act, 1954. With effect from April 1, 2020, the allowance and pension for one year will be reduced by 30 percent.

Union Minister Prakash Javedkar briefs Media:

-The MPLAD Fund for the year 2020-21 & 2021-22 has been suspended. This will be used to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

-Rs 7,900 crore to hence go to Consolidated Fund of India as MPLADS suspended for 2 years.

-Already the Central Govt employees have given 1-day salary on their own, this ordinance is for the MPs.

-President, VP and Governors will be requested for 30% cut also, said Union Minister Prakash Javedkar.
