Chennai: AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala was on Sunday unanimously chosen the legislature party leader by the MLAs in a party meeting. The development paved way for Chinnamma to be the next chief minister of Tamil Nadu.

"Chinnamma all set to become the Next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu," AIADMK said in a tweet.

The current Tamil Nadu CM, Panneerselvam, himself proposed the name of Sasikala at the meeting of AIADMK legislators, claimed the party sources.

Earlier, Panneerselvam and a few other ministers had a meeting Sasikala at the Poes Garden residence of late Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, where Chinnamma continues to live.

The agenda of the meeting, however, was not disclosed to the AIADMK legislators.

It was being speculated that the meeting was aimed at discussion over government's activities, issues regarding the various constituencies and the way in which Jayalalithaa's birth anniversary on February 24 will be celebrated.
