Pampore: Indian army encountered two terrorists on Wednesday after a fierce gun battle of three days. The army officials said that the operation against the militants has ended and ensured that there was no collateral damage.

"Operation was tricky, building is huge. We had to clear 60 rooms of EDI building," stated Army officials.

As many as four heavily armed terrorists had taken shelter in the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) on October 10 last and entered into a battle with Indian Army and CRPF officials. The militants had taken shelter inside EDI building and started firing flammable material that sparked a fire in the complex.

As the gun battle between the terrorists and the army had continued till Wednesday and the officials had also discussed to demolish the EDI building.

"Floodlights were used during the night to ensure that the militants were prevented from escaping under the cover of darkness," a senior CRPF official said.

The CRPF officials stated that Rockets and heavy automatic gunfire were used to engage the militants.

Infiltration of 15 terrorists in country:

  • The army officials have said that as many as 15 terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba have been infiltrated inside the country. These terrorists have distributed themselves in the group of three, the officials said.
  • The CRPF officials have confirmed that a soldier and a police man have been injured in the encounter. There is a possibility of one or two security guards being held inside the building, stated CRPF officials.
