Pakistan has been virtually left alone in its fight on Kashmir issue

New Delhi: Pakistan’s tbluff seems to have been called. All its propaganda against India following Uri attack have failed to gain support. It has been virtually isolated on the Kashmir issue.

While others have been guarded in their reaction, the United States has not minced words. The US secretary of states John Kerry has gone to the extent of warning Pakistan against use of its soil for terrorist activities.

Pakistan Prime minister Nawaz Sharif met him on Tuesday and demanded US mediation in the troubled state of Jammu and Kashmir which he refused to do as “ it was the internal matters of In HB I

dia.” Later, an external affairs spokesman who briefed media persons about the meeting said that Sharif had been told not to allow terrorists to use Pakistan as a safe haven.

Pakistan has been pulled by some other countries too. Afghanistan has even asked India to boycott SAARC meeting to be held in Pakistan. Bangladesh may also not attend the meeting. United Nations general secretary Ban Ki-moon who referred to Syria and some other countries too said nothing on the Kashmir.

That the US fully supports the Indian point of view is also clear from the recent statement of its President Barack Obama.

However, Pakistan which has learnt no lesson from the past may still raise the Kashmir issue in the United Nations. Indian External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj has gone there too with full facts and figures to corner Pakistan on this and other issues. The recent Uri attack by terrorists who had sneaked into the country from Pak border will form a major part of attack on the neighbour. She will speak in the UN on Monday.

The attack has been already condemned by several countries and drawn them closer to India in the wake of attack on sleeping army men. Terrorists using Pak soil has also killed innocent civilians in the past.
