Srinagar: A jawan was martyred and two sustained injuries in a terror attack on CRPF partrol vehicle near Pantha Chowk bus stand in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar.

Police said terrorists attacked the CRPF vehicle in Pantha Chowk on the outskirts of Srinagar city outside the Delhi Public School (DPS) in the evening.

"A sub-inspector in 29th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force was martyred and two troopers were injured when terrorists attacked a patrol party in Pantha Chowk area on the outskirts of the capital city near Delhi Public School," a police officer said.

In another incident, a local policeman and a CRPF trooper were injured at the site of the militant attack when the rifle of a policeman went off accidentally.

The injured have been shifted to hospital for treatment and the school has been surrounded to trace the militants, police said.

Spokesman of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) Abdullah Ghaznavi called a local news agency to own responsibility for the attack.
