Srinagar: An 8-year old boy died while one BSF security personnel was martyred in a cross border firing and shelling launched by Pakistan Rangers on the LOC in Kanachak sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Seven others including a BSF jawan also faced injuries during the same.

BSF jawan Sushil Kumar was rushed to the Government Medical College in Jammu and Kashmir but he later succumbed to the injuries.

What police officials said?

  • A BSF trooper identified as Sushil Kumar, and an eight-year-old boy lost their lives, while seven others, including a BSF trooper and six civilians were injured in heavy shelling and automatic gunfire by Pakistan Rangers on the LoC.
  • The BSF trooper from Haryana's Kurukshetra was killed in R.S.Pura sector while the boy was killed in Kanachak area.
  • All those injured, including one BSF trooper and six civilians were shifted to hospital for treatment.

Earlier, India on Saturday had also lost BSF personnel Gurnam Singh who died after being shifted to the hospital.

It could be mentioned here that BSF had gunned down one terrorist and seven Pakistan Rangers men while retaliating to a ceasefire violation on the International Border.
