OMG! This much amount of fuel used by flights per min will shock you!

Lucknow: Almost every other individual is fond of travelling be it by any means of transport. While purchasing any new model of car or going on drives, we often lay stress on few basic points the prime being its mileage.

Most of us even travel in planes but none of us has ever given a thought as to how much mileage does an airplane give in a minute. Well, here we have answer to your question.

According to reports, a flight consumes nearly four litres of petrol every second! If we talk about Boeing 747, it consumes 240 litres of fuel within one minute. An analysis by the Boeing's website shows that it uses 36,000 gallons of petrol which is equal to 1,50,000 litres during a 10 hour journey!

Nearly 12 litres of petrol is used up by Boeing 747 in covering one kilometre which means, this flight, helps around 500 passengers in covering one kilometre by burning 12 litres of petrol. When estimated, the per person consumption reaches t0 only 0.024 litres when covering one kilometre.

As per reports, this flight covers 0.8 kilometres in one litre which might sound too less but its over all consumption for 12 hours takes upto 178,800 litres! That's too much fuel!
