Omar Abdullah: Not Pakistan but Centre responsible for Kashmir unrest

Srinagar: Erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday gave a shocking statement by claiming that the unrest in Kashmir isn't cooked by Pakistan but the result of current Indian government's ignorance.

"It is a false impression that Pakistan is behind the unrest you see in Kashmir. It is a result of our mistakes," said Omar, while speaking at a function of organised by his National Conference in Baramulla.

"Pakistan alone can't be blamed for the political situation or the current unrest in Kashmir. The people of the Valley have supported a political sentiment even when there was no external interference and this political sentiment lays the foundation of the State's special status that has since been eroded by extra-constitutional machinations," Omar said.

He held the Centre responsible for the political issues arising in J&K.

"The Centre has been consistently refusing to accept that a problem actually exists in Kashmir which has created unrest here," Omar said.

The National Conference working president also launched a scathing attack on J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti saying that her behaviour has changed drastically since she took power in the state.
