Navy official onboard hydrographic survey ship dies of bullet injury

Kochi: A Navy official died on Sunday after he mysteriously sustained a bullet injury onboard a hydrographic survey ship anchored in this Kerala coastal city that houses the Southern Naval Command, police said.

According to naval authorities, a gunshot was heard at 7.30 a.m. around the INS Jamuna. Minutes later, Raksha Kumar Parmar, a security official with the Indian Navy, was found wounded.

He was rushed to a nearby naval hospital where he died around 9.40 a.m., the police said.

The naval and police authorities have begun a probe to find out if it was an accident or suicide.
