Nirbhaya Case: Rape Convicts will be hanged on 20 March

New Delhi: In Nirbhaya rape and murder case president Ramnath Kovind has dismissed mercy petition of one of four convicts Pawan Kumar Gupta.

Delhi court fixes 20th March for punishment.

Now, convicts have no other option to delay the process.

The death row convicts are: Mukesh Kumar Singh (32), Pawan Gupta (25), Vinay Sharma (26) and Akshay Kumar Singh (31).

President rejects mercy petition of Pawan Gupta, one of the convicts in Nirbhaya gang rape case. The date of puinishment has been postponed for three times.

In Nirbhaya rape and Murder case court announced the new date for hanging the convicts. On 17 Feb court gave the date of 3rd March for the punishment. Nirbhaya rape and murder case convicts tried all the process to postpone the hanging date. Patiala Court also heard the case again and after hearing they gavenew date for punishment.

As President Ramnath Kovind cancelled convict Pawan Gupta's mercy plea, Father of Nirbhaya said that he is very hopeful that justice will be paid soon. But Lawyers are using their powers in wrong way. “Mujrimom ke vakeel AP Singh ne mujhe aaj anguli dikha kar challenge kiya ki ye faasi ab anant kaal tak tal gayi hai (Today, the convicts AP Singh pointed fingers at me and challenged me that he will get the hangings to be postponed till eternity),” Nirbhaya’s mother when court postponed the date.

The case:

A 23-year-old physiotherapy intern who came to be known as “Nirbhaya” was gangraped and savagely assaulted on the night of December 16, 2012, in a moving bus in South Delhi. On 28 December, at 11 am, her condition was extremely critical. Till her last breath she was fighting for life but on 29th December she died.
