New Delhi: In the Rajya Sabha on Sunday, two bills related to agrarian reform were approved by voice vote amidst huge uproar and noise. However, during this time, there was so much uproar from the opposition that all the dignity of the upper house was severed. Now the sword of action is hanging on the opposition MPs who created uproar.

Venkaiah Naidu suspended 8 members for a week:

It was a bad day for Rajya Sabha yesterday when some members came to the well of the House. Deputy Chairman was physically threatened. He was obstructed from doing his duty. This is unfortunate & condemnable. I suggest to MPs, please do some introspection: Rajya Sabha Chairman

Derek O Brien, Sanjay Singh, Raju Satav, KK Ragesh, Ripun Bora, Dola Sen, Syed Nazir Hussain and Elamaran Karim suspended for one week for unruly behaviour with the Chair: Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu

Even after Ruckus in Rajya Sabha, two bill passed:

Amid major ruckus, two contentious farm bills — The Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020; and The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020– passed in Rajya Sabha.

The Bills, which seek to replace the two ordinances promulgated on June 5 this year and which were already cleared by the Lok Sabha, were passed by voice vote in the Upper House.

While the opposition was protesting and demanding that the Bills should sent to a Select Committee. The ruckus erupted after Deputy Chairman Harivansh sought the members’ nod to extend the time of sitting of the House beyond 1 pm till the passage of the Bills. The opposition members demanded that the House be adjourned as per the scheduled time.
