Two more channels to go off air for violations after NDTV India

New Delhi: After banning NDTV India for a day, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry has ordered a ban on two more news channels including Pratidin Time and Careworld TV. Pratidin Time, a regional channel, will go off air on Novermber 9 while Careworld Tv will be taken off air for seven days from November 9.

As per the government order, Pratidin Time (earlier called News Time Assam) showed the identity of brutally tortured minor. The order said channel has invited more problems for the minor by revealing minor’s identity.

Careworld Tv has faced a week ban for broadcasting objectionable content.

NDTV India will also go off-air on Wednesday for allegedly revealing sensitive information related to defence strategies during its coverage of Pathankot attacks in January.

The NDTV India case:

  • It has been alleged that the channel revealed crucial information during the operations.
  • “The information could have been picked by the terrorists and the broadcast had compromised the National Security, lives of civilians and Defence personnel.” the committee stated.
