According to some legal experts, Mulayam may receive solace as of the charges he had to face the Dalit act was already diluted while there was no direct witness to prove his physical involvement. The decision of the Apex Court which had heard the case for all these years will, however, have a telling effect on the politics of the state , timing of which coincided with the turmoil in the party and an atmosphere in view of next assembly elections.

The Guest House incident:

  • On June 2, 1995, BSP MLAs were beaten and dragged by the SP leaders and workers in a Lucknow guesthouse.
  • Mayawati was also attacked by them.
  • Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Brahm Dutt Dwivedi had saved Mayawati by facing SP leaders single-handedly.
