Monsoon Update: IMD issues rain alert in Delhi-NCR & UP

New Delhi: Monsoon has covered most parts of the country except a few states. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in many parts of the country in the next five days.

Rain Alert in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab:

According to the IMD, most parts of North India including Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir are likely to receive heavy rains in the coming days.

People in Delhi-NCR are expected to get respite from the scorching heat from Sunday as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the southwest monsoon is going to make an onset over the national capital soon.

IMD Alert:

The weather department said in a statement that favorable conditions have been created by easterly winds for Southwest Monsoon, which will soon cover most parts of North India including Delhi-NCR.

It said that moderate to heavy rains may occur over many parts of the country including Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir for the next five days.

The IMD tweeted that the low level easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal have moved north-westwards, reaching Delhi, Haryana and East Rajasthan. The low level relative humidity has also increased in this region.

Entry of Monsoon:

Therefore, conditions remain favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and some more parts of Rajasthan.

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert due to the changes taking place in Bihar. According to IMD, there is a possibility of rain in most of the districts of Bihar on Sunday. The weather in the state is expected to improve from Monday. Due to incessant rains, there is a flood situation in North Bihar.
