New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged the political parties to utilise maximum time available in Parliament's monsoon session and said the government is ready to debate on any issue in the house.

"Welcome everyone to the monsoon session of Parliament. Lots of issues have to be discussed. I expect all the political parties to cooperate and let the session function smoothly," Modi told reporters in the Parliament complex.

"The government is ready for discussion on all issues," he said.

What else PM stated:

  • He urged all political parties to make most use of time in monsoon session and asked them to set an example for the state assemblies.
  • Whatever issues any party has, it can raise on the floor of the house.

The monsoon session of Parliament began on a stormy note on Wednesday with the Rajya Sabha witnessing its first noisy disruption by opposition members, causing ruckus and an adjournment.

After reading obituary references and making an announcement to allow members make speeches in their regional languages, Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu called for Zero Hour.

  • Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said that opposition parties may have no-confidence on the government, but I want to make it absolutely clear to the house that the people of the country have full confidence on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government.
  • Speaker Sumitra Mahajan accepts motions of no-confidence moved by multiple Members of Parliament.
  • Vice President Venkaiah Naidu has adjourned the Rajya Sabha till 1200 hours after protest by TDP MPs over special status demand for Andhra Pradesh.
  • Opposition parties are continuously sloganeering in the Lok Sabha. Members of Parliament are heard saying 'We Want Justice' seeking justice of SCST and other backward classes.
  • Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has announced that MPs will now be able to use the parliament WiFi.
  • Classical dancer Sonal Mansingh, Author Rakesh Sinha and Sculptor Raghunath Mohapatra take oath as nominated members of Rajya Sabha.
  • Three-time MP Ram Shakal also took oath as a nominated member soon after the proceedings of the upper house begin.

  • They were nominated by President Ram Nath Kovind.
