Modi government launches 20 smart city projects in Pune

Pune: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched 20 smart cities project at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune of Maharashtra. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Vidyasagar Rao had also attended the event, which was headed by Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu.

With this ‘Smart City Challenge Competition’, the projects will be carried out in 20 selected cities. Rs 48 thousand crore will be invested in the scheme.

  • In its first budget, Modi government announced about Smart City projects.
  • Rs. 7,060 crore was allotted in the budget for this project.
  • According to the plan, the selected cities will get Rs 100 crore for five years.
