MiG-21 fighter jet makes emergency landing at Srinagar airport

An Indian Air force Mikoyan Gurevich (MiG-21) fighter jet overshot the runway while landing at Srinagar Airport on Tuesday. The pilot was safely taken out.

New Delhi: An Indian Air force Mikoyan Gurevich (MiG-21) fighter jet overshot the runway while landing at Srinagar Airport on Tuesday. The pilot was safely taken out.

The airport is located 12 kms away from the city.

According to the reports, The fighter jet made an emergency landing at the Srinagar Airport as the pilot detected a technical problem.

  • Tyres of the jet were burnt due to emergency landing.
  • Fire tenders were immediately sent to the runway to ensure that the aircraft did not catch fire.
