Mayawati attacks PM Modi over ‘garlands of notes’ remark

New Delhi: Demanding a rollback of demonetisation, Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati on Wednesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot see a ‘Dalit ki Beti’ being presented with garlands of notes.

PM Modi, in his Ghazipur rally, had said, “They used to get huge garlands of notes under which their faces got hidden."

Hitting back to PM Modi, Mayawati said:

  • BJP leaders have accepted garlands of notes and they have no problem if Modi is garlanded with notes any number of times
  • But, if a 'Dalit ki beti' is offered such a garland, it is indigestible for the prime minister
  • It reflects his cheap mentality

Earlier, Mayawati had demanded setting up of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe into the allegation that the information about demonetisation was selectively leaked before the announcement.
