Massive fire engulfs nearly 300 cars at Bengaluru Aero Show Venue

On February 19, one pilot had lost his life after two jets of the Indian Air Force’s Surya Kiran aircraft collided with each other during the rehearsal.

Bengaluru: Massive fire broke out in a parking lot at the venue of the 2019 Aero India show, on Saturday, at the Yelahanka air base where nearly 300 cars are reported to be gutted in the fire. However, no lives have been claimed till now.

According to a policeman, the fire spread after one car caught fire, setting other near-by cars ablaze.

To douse the fire, more than 10 fire engines have reached the spot. However, the cause of the fire is not yet known but it is said a lit cigarette that was thrown into the grass might have started the fire.

Seven ambulances have also been stationed at the site in case of any causalities.

The area has been vacated and police have reached the spot to initiate the investigation.

The Aero India show 2019 was coming to its end as it was scheduled to be held in the city from February 20 and 24 and thousands of visitors had flocked in to attend the five-day biennial event.
