Martyrdom of our jawans will not go in vain, says HM Rajnath Singh

Raipur: Assuring that the martyrdom of the soldiers would not go in vain, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that heavy retaliation would be given to the naxalists and they will also have to face the dire consequences for their deed.

Describing the maoist attack on CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) personnel as a cowardly act, HM Rajnath Singh, at the headquarters of the 4th battalion of Chhattisgarh Armed Force in Mana Camp area, on Saturday, stated, "I assure the nation that the martyrdom of our soldiers will not go in vain. We are confident that we will be able to control the activities of Maoists"

After visiting the injured CRPF jawans who are undergoing treatment in the Narayana Hospital in Raipur, the Home Minister announced the ex-gratia of one crore to the family of the deceased.

Deeply saddened by the attack, Rajnath Singh has also decided not to celebrate Holi.

It may be mentioned that at least 12 CRPF jawans of the 219-battalion were martyred and six others were severely injured in a Maoist attack near Bhejji in Sukma district.

The incident:

• CRPF jawans were martyred when the Naxals ambushed on a road opening party (ROP) of the security forces at Kotacheru village in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh.

• The attack was performed with IED (Improvised Explosive Device).
• The attack took place in the dense forests in Bhejji at around 0900 hours on Saturday.
• The patrolling team of CRPF’s 219 battalion was out for a road opening task near Kotacheru village. Total 112 security personnel were part of the patrol party.
• The Naxals also looted ten weapons and two radio sets from the deceased.
