Lucknow: Is there any dearth of officers in Uttar Pradesh or surfeit of ones at the Centre as many IAS officers of Uttar Pradesh are on their way back to parent cadre.

It was immediately after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took over reign of the state when few officers were requisitioned from the Centre back to their parent cadre of UP. It took some time but finally many of them including Chief Secretary Rajive Kumar , Principal Secretary to CM S P Goyal, Sanjay Bhoosreddy came to strengthen the state bureaucracy.

Still not satisfied, the UP government has joined two senior officers in Alok Tandon (1986 batch) and Sanjiv Mittal (1987 batch). Some other officers like Kalpana Awasthi (1990 batch) are also in the line to return to UP, according to highly placed sources.

According to the sources, UP Chief Secretary Rajive Kumar has spoken to several officers personally in order to make them comfortable to get repatriated. IN UP, several officers have multiple charges and this could be another reason behind the slow march of Yogi government.

It will not be out of place to mention that Yogi government, despite being wary of several officers who were in the prominent positions in previous Akhilesh Yadav regime, could not get removed many of them. In fact, Yogi has yet to make his 'team' of officers to run the government which probably is the undoing of the present ruling dispensation.
