Bhopal: Shashi Karnawat, the Madhya Pradesh IAS officer who was suspended under the provisions of the All India Service (Discipline and Appeals) Rules,1969, has been terminated by the state government.

The statement of her termination was issued on Monday evening last by the PM government.

It came as a shock to Karnawat, whose appeal was still pending before the court. She said that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had assured her that she would be reinstated.

"Shivraj Bhaiya (chief minister) has betrayed me. I will call a press conference tomorrow and announce my strategy regarding the government decision,” she said.

Madhya Pradesh general administration department (GAD) minister Lal Singh Arya had accused Karnawat of crossing the line of the discipline and violating norms meant for the conduct of a senior government officer. Arya had said, “The state government had already sent a proposal for the termination of her services, earlier, to the Central government and response on the same was awaited.”
