Babri Case: Court frames 'criminal conspiracy' charges against Advani, 11 others

Lucknow: The Special CBI Court, on Tuesday, charged BJP leaders LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti and 9 others with criminal conspiracy (Section 120B) in connection with the Babri demolition case.

The charges were framed after their discharge application was rejected by the court. All 12 accused were earlier granted bail on personal bonds of Rs 50,000 each.

The defence counsel had moved a "discharge application" in which the accused claimed not guilty in the December 1992 razing of the mosque at Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh.

The court then dictated the order on the discharge application, lawyers said.

The court was to frame charges against the accused in the case on Tuesday.
