New Delhi: Amidst stringent security measures, India is celebrating its 67th Republic Day with great fervor and patriotic enthusiasm.

French President Francois Hollande is the chief guest at the Republic Day parade and it is the fifth time a French President has been invited as the chief guest on the occasion.

President Pranab Mukherjee hoisted national flag at Rajpath in New Delhi. Chief Guest French President François Hollande along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries are also present at the event

This is the first time when a foreign army had participated in the Republic Day Parade.The 35th Infantry Regiment of 7th Armoured Brigade of France, which was here since Januray 8, took part in the parade.

This is also the first time when an all women stunt contingent had displayed its skill in the parade. The army jawans performed stunts on bikes have always been a major attraction during the parade but this year for the first time, an all-women stunt contingent took part. The women contingent named ‘Women Daredevils CRPF’ comprised of 120 soldiers who showcased their stunts.
