Poll results prove PM Modi is people's favourite leader: Amit Shah

New Delhi: Saying that the historic mandate will take the country to the progressive direction, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah on Saturday expressed his gratitude towards the electorate for giving almost three-quarters of votes to the party.

Following an emphatic show of the saffron brigade, Shah said that the opponent parties have to accept that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the most popular and strongest leader of India since independence.

Thanking people for accepting the politics of performance, Shah said that BJP will form government in four states- UP, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur. "The results are very encouraging for the party," he added.

When asked about he being the Uttar Pradesh CM, Shah said, "Have enough on my plate, I cannot be the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister."

"Public trust BJP and they have proven it yet again. People have given a hard hitting reply to the ruling party of Uttar Pradesh," said Shah.

Speaking over Mayawati's allegation of manipulated EVM machines, Shah said, "I can understand her state of mind right now."

Shah said UP needs development on a dual rate, adding, they will bring 'naya yug' in Uttar Pradesh. Shah, when asked about BJP's CM face, said it will be decided by the party parliamentary board on the basis of merit.
