Last day of Monsoon session; Triple Talaq bill to be tabled

New Delhi: The Triple talaq bill to be tabled in Rajya Sabha on the last day of Monsoon session.

If the bill get clearance in the Upper House it will again have to go back to Lok Sabha for the approval of the amendments.

AIMPLB to continue efforts to stop triple talaq bill

Law Minister Ravi Shankar stated, "The Union Cabinet has approved three amendments to the ‘Muslim Women Protection of Rights on Marriage Bill’ which has been cleared by Lok Sabha and pending approval of Rajya Sabha."

It is to be mentioned that he Lok Sabha has passed The Integrated Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2018, The Union Territory Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2018, The Goods and Services Tax (Compensation to States) Amendment Bill, 2018 and The Central Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2018 on Thursday.

Whereas, the Rajya Sabha has passed the National Sports University Bill 2018, The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Bill, 2018.

It may be worth mentioning that National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh score a comfortable victory in the election for Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman on Thursday defeating Opposition nominee B.K. Hariprasad.
