Landlord arrested for thrashing tenant in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Higio Gungtey, a student hailing from Arunachal Pradesh , who was thrashed and forced to lick the shoes of his landlord for the over use of water on last week , has filed an FIR against the landlord Hemanth Kumar.

The incident took place following an argument between the 22-year old and the landlord.

Chief Minsiter of Karnataka Siddaramaiah, on Twitter, condemned the attack, saying that the culprit has been put behind bars.

"Attack on student from Arunachal is shocking. Police has taken prompt action and the perpetrator has been arrested," said he in the tweet.

“Why can’t the domestic violence act be implemented upon him for using such derogative words on me and my parents? We three boys who were staying together were tortured on March 6 and I’m going to file a second FIR against the landlord today,” Tama had said.

Dubbing the incident saddening, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said we must put a check on such incidents.

"My office is pursuing this case. When we are talking of safety of Indians abroad such incidents in our country are very saddening," said Rijiju in a tweet.
