Over 40 injured as bus falls into gorge in Udhampur

Kishtwar/J&K: Death toll in Kishtwar accident rises to 35 and 17 others were reported injured as an overloaded bus on Monday fell into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar District.

According to initial reports, the accident took place around 8.40 am when the minibus, heading towards Kishtwar from Keshwan, skidded off the road near Srigwari and fell into a deep gorge. According to locals the vehicle was overloaded.

The rescue operation is on and locals with the help of police and administration are helping passengers and injured.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik expressed grief over the loss of lives in a minibus accident in Kishtwar district on Monday and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of those killed.
