New Delhi: Kedarnath Dham is located at the highest of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. The doors of the Kedarnath temple were opened at five o'clock this morning. Now Lord Kedar will be worshiped here for the next 6 months.

Portals of Kedarnath Dham reopen:

Presently, in view of the Corona pandemic, this temple located in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand is banned from the public. Lord Kedar will be worshiped in the Kedarnath temple for the next 6 months from today.

Today on this auspicious occasion, we are going to tell you some interesting facts related to the Kedarnath temple.

Temple opened after Baisakhi:

This temple is opened after Baishakhi for the darshan of Lord Kedar and after 6 months, the doors of the Kedarnath temple are closed to Padwa after Diwali. The temple remains closed for 6 months due to snowfall.

When the temple is closed, the priests light a lamp inside the dham. Then after 6 months when the doors of the temple open in summer, the lamp is lit.

According to mythology, the Pandavas won the war of Mahabharata in Dwapara Yuga, after which they were filled with self-aggrandizement as they were deeply saddened by the slaughter of their brothers and relatives. They wanted to be free from this sin. Then he reached Kashi to have darshan of Lord Shiva.

When Lord Shiva came to know, he got angry and came to Kedar. The Pandavas also followed Mahadev to Kedar. Then Lord Shiva took the form of a bull and joined the herd of animals. Then Bhima took a huge form and spread his legs on two mountains. All the animals went under his feet, but Mahadev did not go. They started getting angry, then Bhima grabbed his back.
