New Delhi: The Delhi High Court, on Tuesday, directed Jawaharlal Nehru University not to penalise the student union president Kanhaiya Kumar till September 19. The JNU had to take action against Kumar in connection with the controversial February 9 event, holding some students including JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya guilty of indiscipline. The direction came from a HC’s division bench, comprising of justices BD Ahmed and Ashutosh Kumar, on pleas by Khalid and Bhattacharya, who were penalised along with Kumar and 19 others.

Earlier on Monday, JNU had been asked by Delhi HC not to implement the order passed by its appellate authority for a week.
