Srinagar: Six terrorists were killed in Anantnag district in a gunfight with the security forces.

The security forces received the tip-off after which the search operation in Sekipora village begun.

According to Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia, "Six terrorists were killed in this operation. Weapons and warlike stores have been recovered from the encounter site."

Reports coming in from the area said that all the slain terrorists were locals and belonged to the Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit.

The mobile internet services have been suspended in the district as a precautionary measure.

It is to be mentioned that, on November 20, an army soldier was martyred while four terrorists were shot dead in an encounter at a village in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.
