Tamil Nadu cabinet wants Jayalalithaa to be honoured by Bharat Ratna

New Delhi: The Tamil Nadu Cabinet has decided to recommend former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa’s name for India’s highest civilian honour.

Tamil Nadu CM O. Panneerselvam arrived in New Delhi on Monday to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting the government to bestow the Bharat Ratna on Jayalalithaa and to install her bronze statue in the Parliament complex.

The decision was taken in the first cabinet meeting chaired by TN Chief Minister O Panneerselvam after Jayalalithaa’s demise.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister also decided to publish the details of the damages caused by the Cyclone Vardah in the state.
