New Delhi: A student pursuing PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru university was found dead in his hostel room in the late evening on Tuesday.
The deceased, JR Philemon Chiru,resident of Manipur,was pursuing PhD in West Asia Studies.
He was found dead in room no. 171 of Brahmaputra hostel.
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police,Ishwar Singh '' Philemon was not seen by other students for last three days.The students informed the university staff and the police .We forcefully opened the door in front of the staff and found his body inside the room."
He further added," Philemon was a heavy drinker and most likely the cause of death was the overdose of alcohol.No external injury mark was found on Victim's body."
The body has been sent at AIIMS mortuary for postmortem.
"Further investigation is underway and the cause of the death can be only clear after the postmortem report is received,said Police.
