Javed Akhtar chants ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ thrice in Rajya Sabha

New Delhi: In a repartee to outrageous comments of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeem (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi, Bollywood writer, lyricist and poet Javed Akhtar dubbed him as a ‘Mohalla Level Leader”

Taking a dig at Owaisi during his speech in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, Javed Akhtar chanted ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai thrice saying it was his right.

“ The constitution does not mandate to wear a sherwani, not even to don a skull cap. Saying ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ is not my duty but my right,” Akhtar said while condemned Owaisi and similar others who according to him are causing a rift between the communities.
