Jammu: A Border security force jawan was killed and one was critically injured in a cease violation on Indian posts along the international border (IB) in Arnia sub-sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistani rangers resorted to firing using heavy weapons on the IB on Friday morning.

"Pakistan violated ceasefire around 1300 hours. They resorted to firing and shelling using small and heavy weapons on the IB in Arnia sub-sector at Nikowal, Budhwar, Buley-Chak, S.H. Beh and Shahnaz forward posts," a police officer said.

The 37-year-old Kumar was a resident of Palwal Arnia.

"Heavy firing exchanges are going on as BSF troopers retaliated unprovoked, indiscriminate firing by Pakistan," the police officer said at around 1115 hours.
