Jammu and Kashmir: Death toll in grenade attack reaches two

Jammu IG police informed media that the explosion took place around 11:30 when a loud sound was heard, approximately 18 people got injured are getting treatment in the hospital. He also told that the explosive was smuggled from outside. He also urged people to maintain their clam as such terror strikes are done in order to disrupt harmony and peace.

Jammu and Kashmir: Explosion at a bus stand, several injured

Jammu: The death toll at Jammu's General Bus Stand grenade attack reached to two on Friday, according to police.

A grenade blast inside a bus, razed the transport vehicle, on Thursday, leaving 30 injured. All the injured were rushed to the nearest hospital.

Muhammad Riyaz, 32, who got critically injured on Thursday when the grenade flung by a terrorist exploded under a parked passenger bus, succumbed to his wounds in a hospital early Friday, the police added.

A 17-year-old youth from Uttarakhand was also killed on Thursday.

Yasir Javaid Bhat alias Arhaan of Kulgam district, who has confessed of carrying carried out the attack, has been arrested.

Yasir Bhat was said to be aligned with the Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit.

State Governor Satya Pal Malik has sanctioned Rs 5 lakh for the victims' next of kin and Rs 20,000 each for the injured.

Thursday's was the third such attack at the Jammu General Bus Stand by militants in the last nine months.

According to an eyewitness, "I was standing at the juice shop, when there was a loud sound. We were initially told that a tyre had burst. Later, we found out that a grenade explosion took place."

After horrific Pulwama attack, this is the second terror attack in the valley to disturbed the peace and harmony in Jammu.

The investigation is underway.
