New Delhi: Indian Space Research Organisation ISRO has decided to set a new world record by launching 83 satellites into an orbit in a single rocket, PSLV-XL, in the first quarter of year 2017.

If the plan becomes successful, India would be the first Asian country to achieve the milestone in the space world.

Chairman and managing Director of Antrix Corporation, commercial arm of ISRO, Rakesh Sasibhushan said," This is a huge opportunity to launch 83 satellites in one go. This will showcase our capability."

ISRO will launch 83 satellite, 81 of them will be foreign nano satellites in a single rocket.

The total load of the PSLV-XL will be 1600 kgs.

All these satellites will be put in single orbit.
