New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted the people associated with wildlife on the occasion of International Tiger Day. Also told about the work done for the tigers of India. At the same time, he also reiterated India's commitment to create safe habitats for tigers. PM Modi said, 'On International Tiger Day, greetings to wildlife lovers, especially tiger conservation enthusiasts.

International Tiger Day:

Home to over 70% of the tiger population globally, we reiterate our commitment to ensuring safe habitats for our tigers and grooming while working towards a tiger-friendly ecosystem.

History:

Today is International Tiger Day. The date is historic because on this day many countries signed the agreement in the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit. Which was held in Russia in 2010. This agreement talks about raising awareness about the decreasing tiger population of tigers. The number of them decreasing globally and preserving the natural habitat of tigers is the main focus. Also, the representatives from various countries say that the tiger-populated countries would thrive to double the tiger population. The target date is the end of the year 2022.
