New Delhi: Hitting out at Pakistan, new Indian Army chief Bipin Rawat said that neighbour should stop supporting and aiding cross-border infiltration and terrorism otherwise 1.3 million strong force of India is able to wipe out terror wherever it originates.

In an interview to leading English daily, citing example of surgical strike, Rawat said army is well-known regarding the terror infrastructure that lies across the border.

"If the need arises, we can strike effectively. The surgical strikes achieved good success. The aim and intention was fully achieved. We are not a war mongering nation but there are certain thresholds that should not be crossed. Our response will vary," he said.

“The two-front is a real scenario. Much has changed from before in terms of our capabilities. The Army, Navy and IAF are now jointly very much prepared for such an eventuality,” he added.

Earlier, Lt. General Bipin Rawat has taken charge as the new Indian Army chief, replacing former army chief Dalbir Singh.
