Indian Army guns down six militants in Assam, one soldier injured

Diphu (Assam): Indian Army on Friday gunned down six militants of Karbi Peoples Liberation Tigers (KPLT) in Karbi Anglong district of Assam. Among the killed, two were top leaders of the group.

Fire was exchanged between the forces and militants in the early hours inside a forest, said Superintendent of Police Debojit Deuri.

An army man was injured in the mishap and taken to the hospital.

One Insas rifle, one SLR rifle, three pistols and two grenades were recovered from the area.

The army is carrying on its search operations.
