Air Force Day: IAF celebrates 89th Anniversary, Prez Kovind-PM Modi salute air warriors

The Air Force was established on 8 October 1932. Before the country's independence, the Air Force was called the Royal Indian Air Force (RIAF).

Lucknow: Indian Air Force is celebrating its 89th Foundation Day today. Indian Air Force is one of the most powerful air force in the world. Air Force has made India proud many times with its valor and power. The security of the airspace and the responsibility of handling the situation in adverse conditions is also on the bravehearts of the Indian Air Force.

The Air Force was established on 8 October 1932. Before the country's independence, the Air Force was called the Royal Indian Air Force (RIAF). After independence, the word "Royal" was dropped from the name of the Air Force to "Indian Air Force".

Indian Air Force Day:

Air Force Day is celebrated with pomp at Hindon Airbase in Ghaziabad. With the country's old and state-of-the-art aircraft, the soldiers of the Indian Air Force show bravery by showing amazing feats. See the amazing feats of Indian Air Force personnel.

The first contingent of the Air Force was formed on 1 April 1933, consisting of 6 IAF-trained officers and 19 Jawans. The first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Air Force was Air Marshal Sir Thomas W. Elmhirst. After independence, Sir Thomas W. Elmhirst was made the first Chief of the Indian Air Force, Air Marshal. He remained in this post from 15 August 1947 to 22 February 1950. The credit for 'liberating' the Air Force from the Army goes to Sir Thomas W. Elmhirst.

The nation is proud of the Indian Air Force, which has repeatedly shown its valor and strength during peace and war. I am sure that the IAF Will continue to maintain its cherished standards of excellence.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greets on Air Force Day. PM Modi tweeted "Congratulations to our valiant warriors and their families. Indian Air Force is synonymous with courage, diligence and professionalism. They have established themselves through human spirit and defending the nation in times of challenges".
