New Delhi: Indian Air Force (IAF) on Friday successfully launched lately acquired MICA –long range air-to-air missile – at a manoeuvring target from fighter jet Mirage-2000 Upgrade.

“Following this successful mission carried out by IAF’s first squadron Tigers, the force has become one of the few air forces in the entire world having such beyond visual range missile,” said a Ministry of Defence (MoD) statement.

According to MoD, the target, which was flying at a low altitude and much smaller than the size of an actual aircraft, was directly hit by the missile.
