Love knows no borders: Ex Ind CEC Qureshi to wed Nepal EC Ila

New Delhi: Coming as a surprise for the neighbouring nations, India's former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dr. SY Qureshi is all set to tie knot with Nepal's election commissioner Ila Sharma.

49-year-old Ila and 69-year-old Qureshi met last year at a conference in Mexico and came close to each other since then, reports The Telegraph.

Family opposing Qureshi-Ila relations:

The daily has quoted a source as saying that SY Qureshi had made plans twice to settle with Ila Sharma but due to family pressure, they dropped down the plan. Source also said that families from both the sides are strictly against their marriage.

Who is SY Qureshi?

Born on June 11, 1947, Qureshi completed his education from St. Stephens College. He was a 1971 batch IAS officer. He was appointed as the 17th Chief Election Commissioner. He married to a journalist Humra Qureshi but their marriage ended few years later.

Who is Ila Sharma?

Ila completed her studies from Gorakhpur University and Varanasi's Sampoornanand Sanskrit University. her husband died 15 years back during a Naxalite attack. She presently is the election commissioner of Nepal.
