Income Tax Department seizes Sasikala's property of worth Rs 2000 crore

Chennai: After Former CM of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalithaa's death, the issue of her property and political succession was quite complicated. Now the Income Tax Department on Wednesday in the Kodanad and Siruthvoor areas of Tamil Nadu, former CM J.J. Attached property belonging to Jayalalithaa's associate Sasikala. The Income Tax Department has said that it has seized Sasikala's property worth about Rs 2000 crore.

The Income Tax Department said that on Wednesday Kodanad and Siruthvoor areas of Tamil Nadu, former CM J.J. The assets related to Jayalalithaa's associate Sasikala were investigated to which assets worth Rs 2000 crore have been attached. The Income Tax Department has said that it has seized Sasikala's property worth about Rs 2000 crore. The full details of the assets seized by the Income Tax Department could not be found at the moment.

Worth Rs 2000 crore property sealed:

The Income Tax Department has seized property worth crores of Sasikala only last month. Earlier it was reported that the Income Tax Department seized Sasikala's property worth about Rs 300 crore in September. The newstrack quoted a daily newspaper as saying that the properties include land in front of Jayalalithaa's Veda Nilayam residence.

The assets were acquired by Mr. Hari Chandana Estates Private Limited, whose directors are relatives of Sasikala. However, upon investigation, officials said that the company had no business nor any money flow.

Earlier in November, there were reports of income tax department seizing Sasikala's property worth Rs 1500 crore. The agency found documents while raiding properties owned by VK Sasikala and her relatives. These assets were confiscated under the Benami Act.

These attached properties were in Chennai, Coimbatore, Puducherry and other places in Tamil Nadu. These properties were allegedly not mentioned by Sasikala or her family while declaring their assets. These assets were seized by the Income Tax Department under 'Operation Clean Money'.
