New Delhi: "Fair and Lovely" is a well-known brand. This fairness is highly used by women of every age. FMCG company HUL(Hindustan Unilever Limited), which produces this cream, is preparing to rename its brand Fair & Lovely. The statement issued by the company said that the new brand name will be launched after all the approvals.

The company is planning remove 'Fair' from its name. FMCG company HUL Company has said to remove the word Fair from Fair & Lovely. The upcoming Fair & Lovely brand in the new avatar will be more focused on the representation of women with different skin tones.

50-70% market share of fairness cream in India:

In 1975, Hindustan Unilever launched a fairing cream called "Fair and Lovely" in the market. You would be surprised to know that "Fair and Lovely" has a 50-70% market share of fairness cream in the country. "Fair & Lovely" entered the 2000 crore club in the year 2016, which shows that whitening creams are sold in India.

'We are making our skin care portfolio more inclusive, a more diverse portrayal of beauty,' Hindustan Unilever Chairman Sanjiv Mehta said in a statement.

'Words such as skin brightening, whitening, lightening could soon become a thing of the past on all labels and product sales pitches,' the source said.

'We recognise that the use of the words ‘fair’, ‘white’ and ‘light’ suggest a singular ideal of beauty that we don’t think is right, and we want to address this,” Sunny Jain, Unilever’s president of its beauty and personal care division informed.
