Former Jharkhand Minister Hari Narayan Rai gets seven years' imprisonment 

Ranchi: In the first case of money laundering which has come to light, former Jharkhand Minister Hari Narayan Rai has been sentenced to seven -year imprisonment by a special court in Ranchi. The court has also slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 on him.

According to senior advocate S R Das, " The case is the country's first when an accused is booked by the Enforcement Directorate for committing offences under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2009. He has been convicted and sentenced to jail."

He was jailed by judge B K Tiwari.

Rai is the former Tourism, Urban Development and Forests Minister who was convicted on Monday and was charged with laundering funds of Rs 3.72 crore.
