Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh convicted in journalist's murder

A Special CBI Court in Panchkula has convicted all four including Gurmeet Ram Rahim in the killing of Journalist Ram Chander Chhtarpati. Court will pronounce the quantum of sentence on January 17.

Panchkula: A Special CBI Court in Panchkula has convicted all four including Gurmeet Ram Rahim in the killing of Journalist Ram Chander Chhtarpati. Court will pronounce the quantum of sentence on January 17.

On August 24, 2002, Ramchandra Chhatrapati, was shot after his evening daily 'Poora Sach' published an anonymous letter about the sexual exploitation of women by Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh at the Dera headquarters in Sirsa, Haryana.

A case was registered against Dera Saccha Sauda Chief in 2003 which was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in 2006.

Khatta Singh, Ram Rahim's former driver, is the most important witness of the CBI in the case. He told court that the journalist was killed on orders of Ram Rahim.

Currently, Ram Rahim is serving a 20-year imprisonment in Sunaria jail at Rohtak for raping two of his women disciples.
