Gujarat HC issues notice to wife of suspended IAS officer
Ahemdabad: The Gujarat High Court on Saturday issued a notice to Shyamal Sharma, wife of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Pradeep Sharma who was earlier suspended in a corruption case.
The next hearing of the case has been fixed for June 15.
Shyamal, has been asked to appear in connection with the case against her husband being investigated by the state Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
She is co-accused in the case where Pradeep Sharma was alleged of selling a government property to ‘Welspun Group’ at a cheaper rate in 2003-04.
- Sharma’s act, as per the case, caused a loss of Rs.1.2 crore to the state exchequer.
- According to the case details, the buyer of the land returned the favour by granting his wife a 30 percent partnership in one of its subsidiaries.
- The Gujarat ACB had arrested Sharma in 2009, who was later released on bail.
- His wife, Shyamal, currently lives in the United States (US).
