Srinagar: In what can be said to have fanned the Kashmir unrest, a woman was killed while two other persons were injured in two separate incidents caused by the stone-pelters in the valley on Tuesday.

“Two sisters, 20-year-old Fozia and Nadia (18), were hit by a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) which was reversing after coming under stone pelting attack near Rogan Gali at Parimpora locality in Srinagar,” said a police spokesperson.

After being critically injured in the mishap, they were rushed to an area hospital where the elder sibling succumbed to her wounds. Apparently, the perpetrators targeted the SUV as they thought it was an official vehicle.

In another incident, a man was injured in stone pelting while he was riding a scooter near Aalie Masjid in Safa Kala locality. “Furqan Hamid sustained injuries in his head and was sent to Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) for treatment. He is now in a stable condition,” added the spokesperson.
